Professor Christa Janse van Rensburg, Head of Section Sports Medicine and Director of Sports and Exercise Medicine and Lifestyle Institute (SEMLI), has been appointed as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physical Education & Sport Sciences at the University of Limerick (UL), Ireland.
Prof. van Rensburg has been awarded this prestigious five-year appointment, running from July 21, 2025, to July 20, 2030, following approval by the University of Limerick's Recruitment Sub-Committee.
This appointment recognises Prof Janse van Rensburg's outstanding contributions and leadership in the field of sports medicine, physical education, and sport sciences, and creates valuable opportunities for international collaboration between the University of Pretoria and the University of Limerick's Faculty of Education & Health Sciences.
The appointment builds upon the existing partnership between the two institutions, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2025 between UP's Faculty of Health Sciences and UL. This strategic partnership aims to promote research collaboration in areas of mutual interest, facilitate faculty and student exchanges, and develop international seminars and workshops.
Adjunct appointments of this nature strengthen the University of Pretoria's commitment to fostering global partnerships and enhancing research excellence through international networks. The collaboration is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange, joint research initiatives, and academic cooperation between the two institutions.
