On 18 November 2022, Professor Leanne Sykes, head of the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry at the University Pretoria celebrated 100 dental publications with her co-workers.

To mark this significant milestone, Prof Sykes invited her co-authors for a bee-themed high tea, where she expressed gratitude to all academic staff who contributed to her published work.

Prof Sykes started her speech by thanking many of her co-authors, the academic staff in various departments and disciplines within the faculty, and students who had been part of the publications. She highlighted the importance of collaboration in research, writing, and publishing.

In hosting the high tea, Prof Skyes aimed to acknowledge her co-authors and encourage her team to collaborate on research projects and build their publication records.

Inspired by the 'the Beehive Model,' Prof Skyes opted for the bee-themed party to mark the significance of collaboration as seen in how bees behave in a hive.

In the hive, there is a high degree of support, and Professor Skyes urged the academic staff to collaborate more and be dedicated to the pursuit of generating high-quality research and publications.

Prof. Skyes concluded her speech by saying that she hopes her leadership and research outputs will inspire the academic staff in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
