The Faculty of Health Sciences Welcomes Prof Flavia Senkubuge

The Faculty of Health Sciences announced the appointment of Professor Flavia Senkubuge as Deputy Dean: Health Stakeholder Relations in the Faculty of Health Sciences, with effect from 1 October 2021.

Professor Senkubuge is a specialist in Public Health Medicine and has been attached to the School of Public Health in the Faculty of Health Sciences since January 2011. She is the Head of the Behaviour and Health Management Sciences (BHMS) division.

Professor Senkubuge holds the following qualifications from the University of Pretoria: a PhD (Public Health), an MMed (Public Health Medicine), and an MBChB. Additionally, she holds an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, UK, and a Fellowship of the College of Public Health Medicine (FCPHM) of the Colleges of Medicine South Africa (CMSA).

Professor Senkubuge has held various academic and professional leadership positions, including being an active member of the Academic Programme Committee (APC) at the School of Health Systems and Public Health (SHSPH). She is a member of a number of research advisory groups on health research and development in South Africa, including the Gauteng Province Research Ethics Committee and the editorial board of the journal Frontiers in Public Health.

She is the President of the CMSA and is involved in several projects and health conferences nationally, regionally and internationally. The Faculty wishes Professor Senkubuge a fruitful tenure as Deputy Dean: Health Stakeholder Relations in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
