On the 11 December 2020, the Faculty of Health Sciences hosted the Declaration Ceremony for the School of Medicine which took place virtually. Over 300 students joined the Chairperson of the School of Medicine, Prof Robin Green, as he led the students in the joint declaration.

The Dean at the Faculty of Health Sciences encouraged the new cohort of doctors to embrace Ubuntu. “In this moment I would like us to reflect on a concept that is common in South Africa. “Ubuntu”, “I am because you are”.  By taking this declaration you are taking an oath that when you put on your scrubs or coat or when you enter a healthcare facility, you will have the utmost respect for human life. When you choose to embody the spirit of Ubuntu you will make a difference in society and become a #LifeChanger.” He said.
