The first orientation meeting will be on 3 February 2025 at 17h30

A very important virtual welcoming meeting will take place on 3 February 2025 at 17:30 for all first-time BIS Hons Information Science students.

Details and the link to the clickUP meeting is provided on page 9 of the Information Brochure.

Students will have the opportunity to meet lecturers and learn a bit more about the different modules.

Registration: Registration must be done before classes start for the BIS Honours degrees.

Students who attend the online meeting who are not registered for INY711 for 2025 may be excused from the meeting after introductions and all questions have been dealt with. The meeting will be recorded and will be made available on request.
 

Admission requirements

BIS (Information Science) degree with a weighted average of at least 60% for relevant third-year modules or

BIS (Multimedia) degree with a weighted average of at least 60% for relevant third-year modules or BIS (Publishing) degree with a weighted average of at least 60% for relevant third-year modules or relevant bachelor’s degree with a weighted average of at least60% for relevant third-year modules.

Other programme-specific information

Subject to the provisions of G Regulation G.18.3, a full-time student must complete his or her studies for an honours degree within two academic years (four semesters) and an after-hours student within three academic years (six semesters) after first registration for the degree. However, the Dean may, on the recommendation of the relevant head of department, extend the period of study in both cases by a maximum of two semesters.
 

Curriculum

The curriculum for the BIS(Hons) in Multimedia degree programme comprises fundamental, core and elective modules in each study year. The degree is awarded after a minimum number of credits have been obtained successfully.
