On Saturday, 22 August 205 tertiary students from eight Universities participated in the annual South African Tertiary Mathematics Olympiad (SATMO) that is sponsored by the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA). This year UP came out on top!

The 27th International Mathematics Competition for University Students was scheduled to be held in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, 24-30 July 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition took place online from 25 to 30 July 2020.

Not only did NATHouse win six awards at the annual Day and Faculty House Awards Ceremony hosted by the Division of Student Development (DSD) recently, but their Faculty Guardian, Dr Quenton Kritzinger, was also awarded as the Faculty Guardian of the Year. He also received this award in 2017.

The annual South African Mathematical Modelling Contest (SAMMC) had 20 teams enter this year. It is a four day mathematical modelling competition whereby students work in small teams to solve one of three given mathematical modelling challenges, culminating in a short written report.
