SEMI WEEK – THIS IS MY WOLFPACK

After Magrietjie had a successive two week victory in Ienk and Rag, Mag’s second years or rather Semis came second to none and started their week off with a bang!

On Monday evening 8 February, Mathuso Cibi, the Semi guardian, entertained us with a unity-inspiring speech, assuring the Semis that they were not only going to have a blast of a week, but that they would grow together as sisters. Mamma and Pappa Pink, encouraging a healthy balance between fun and academics, then followed. In closing, Primaria Christel Muller advocated Magrietjie pride and sisterhood, and the colourfully dressed semis made their way to the dance floor. The unity could be felt in the atmosphere and with the raindrops falling leisurely outside, it was clear that the Semis of 2016 were making it rain. #Recognize

On Tuesday, instead of taking the Spikkels to a toy store, the Semis decided to treat their new little sisters as equals and challenge them to a match of volleyball and ‘musical chairs’. The Semis won both games in the first round, showing the younglings who the bosses were, but their triumph was short-lived as the Spikkels brought their A-Game and won the second round. “Do you like your neighbour” was also won by the Spikkels. One of the highlights of the day was definitely the creative and catchy war cries from the Semis and Spikkels. However, it was clear in the end from the semis’ “Huppel” that the Huppel Song will always be the best war cry. #HuppelLikeChamps

Who needs boys when you have your sisters? On Wednesday the Semis went out to Tennessees for the night and painted the town PINK! Despite all the club-related challenges, the Semis had each other’s backs right from the door to the stage and especially on the dancefloor! The Semi dance circle showed vividly the intimate circle of friendship that existed amongst the ladies, and with good fun and music, the night was indeed a pleasant one! #CheersToTheSisterhood

Who’s the man? She’s The Man! By far one of the most intimate events of the week was movie night. On Thursday the Semis took over the Rec hall with their blankets and mattresses while chewing popcorn and drinking juice to watch the classic movie: “She’s The Man”. What’s better reliving your youth than doing that while joined by your sisters? With laughter in the air, old friendships were strengthened and new friendships were formed, and the rest is history. #ThrowbackThursday indeed!
