House Mags House Parents

Meet the Residence Heads of House Mags

We are the proud house parents of House Mags! What an honour it has been to be part of this very special residence. We have come to realise that it is a privilege to be able to study at the University of Pretoria, but an even greater one to be part of Mags.

In House Mags, young ladies are included into a special family circle and introduced to “pink passion”. At House Mags individuals are shaped in different ways, not only intellectually and emotionally, but also as a person. Here you enter a phase in your life where, to a large extent, you have control over your future and the ability to determine your success. Your participation and enthusiasm, as well as the choices you make at House Mags will shape your future ideals.

As House Mags' house parents, every lady and her parents can always depend on our full support. Together with the House Committee, we create an atmosphere in which each lady can develop her talents and gifts. We invite new comers to become completely integrated into an exceptional group of ladies that functions as a unit. We are committed to creating a home for all Mags ladies in which they can perform on academic, cultural, sports and social level. House Mags offers all the necessary support to equip our ladies to excel on all levels.

Before we say goodbye, let us tell you a little bit about ourselves. We are both professors at the university (Economics and Marketing) and have been working with students for many years. However, in the residence, we are not lecturers, but your parents who are available to assist with help and advice. It was indeed our passion for young people that led us to become house parents of House Mags. We are a family of three – this is if you include our cockatoo parrot (Magnum). Magnum is a pink-and-gray cockatoo (Mags colours) who talks and plays all day.

We leave with the following: Life is a gift, so enjoy every moment to the full and give it all you got, forever… for Mags!

Pink Mags love

André & Yolanda Jordaan
