The past weekend’s Ienk Melodienk first year concert was the talk of the entire campus. Despite the shortened time allowed of between 5 and 8 minutes, as well as an interruption due to a thunder storm, the Ienks of the UP residences did not fail to impress and thoroughly entertain the audience.
Themes such as Cowboys (Mopanie), the Circus (Madelief and Nerina) and even a scary Annabelle doll (Erika) featured in the course of the evening. Magrietjie’s theme, the tale of the Three little pigs, was an innovative response to new regulations requiring all residences to perform in their house clothing, which, in our case of course, meant pink. The sea of Pink Spikkels stole the hearts of the audience, and the judges and with that managed to achieve a first place among the ladies residences.
A special word of thanks goes out to our former Culture external HK, Christine van Aswegen, who helped to choreograph and direct the Ienk show.
