The Faculty of Law houses the:

  1. Centre for Child Law;
  2. Centre for Human Rights;
  3. Centre for Intellectual Property Law;
  4. Centre for Law and Medicine (in conjunction with the Department of Forensic Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences);
  5. Centre for Sports Law in Africa;
  6. Institute for International and Comparative Law in Africa (ICLA);
  7. International Development Law Unit;
  8. Law Clinic; and
  9. Extractive Industries Law in Africa Programme (EILAF), the first of its kind on the continent.

The Faculty also houses the:

  1. Adams & Adams Chair in Intellectual Property Law;
  2. Chair in Absa Africa Banking Law in Africa;
  3. United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Chair in Education Law in Africa;
  4. South African Research Chairs Initiative in International Development and African Economic Relations; and
  5. South African Research Chairs Initiative in International Constitutional Law.
