The Department of Construction Economics took a group of first year students to visit Geberit, one of the leading brands when it comes to sanitary fittings and plumbing solutions.

The students had the opportunity to dismantle and reassemble a complete concealed cistern toilet unit.  The group also learned about different product ranges and what to look out for when comparing prices on plumbing accessories.  The highlight of the day was observing water flow in the pluvia rainwater harvesting, single stack, one-pipe and sovent systems.  It was also highlighted how simple design errors can make a big impact on the flow capability of a system.  Understanding building products expands the knowledge of students and enhances their learning and we want to encourage all our students to make the most of such opportunities.
