Technological innovation and its management and application are essential for the creation of prosperity in any country. The Engineering School of the University of Pretoria gives students the education to make a considerable contribution in this field.Through it's innovative and relevant research across seven departments, the school of Engineering at the University of Pretoria provides it's Students with the necessary training to make a considerable contribution to engineering in South Africa and abroad. Our  Engineering   School  is one of the largest school of its kind in the South Afrrica and has various fields of specialisation in a variety of departments .  We have strong ties with industry. One of the benefis for our students is the high esteem in which our graduates are held, both nationally and internationally. Programmes within the school of Engineering have all been granted accreditation by the Engineering council of South Africa.

The school close ties with industry through a number of research chairs across all deprtments. These include chairs in Mantainance Engineering, Pyro metallurgy, fluoro-material Science and Process Integration, Carbon Technology and Materials , Reaction Engineering, Tribology and Environmental Engineering, Railway Engineering and Broadband multimedia Communications. It also has a number of reasearch centres, such as the Hub for Energy Efficiency and Demand-side Management, the Advanced Engineering Centre of Excellence, the Industrial Metals and Minerals Research Institute, the Centre for Telecommunications Engineering for the Information Society, the Centre for Asset Integrity Management, and the Carl and Emily Fuchs Institute for Microelectronics to name but a few. Each department excels in its own reasearch, but the consolidation of reaserch activities is encouraged and several sustainable research groups have been formed to make an impoact world-wide.
