Four best paper awards at international heat transfer conference

Seven conference papers were recently presented by staff members and postgraduate students of the Clean Energy Research Group (CERG) in University of Pretoria’s Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. CERG is being led by Prof Josua Meyer, who is also the Head of the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Infomation Technology. The papers were presented at the 14th International Conference on Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics (HEFAT2019) in Wicklow, Ireland from 22 to 24 July 2019.

The conference is broad in scope and provides a forum for specialists in heat transfer, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics from all corners of the globe to present the latest progress and developments in the field. A total of 266 papers were presented and best paper awards were presented to Prof Ken Craig and PhD student Wilhelm van den Bergh. Dr Marilize Everts, a post-doctoral fellow in CERG and future staff member of the department, did exceptionally well. She presented two papers and received two best paper awards.
