Put your hands together for Dr Mardé Helbig – winner of the NSTF Emerging Researcher award

Posted on July 03, 2019

Dr Mardé Helbig is a senior lecturer in the Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology at the University of Pretoria.

The National Science and Technology Forum award was conferred to her on 27 June 2019 at a prestigious gala dinner attended by over 700 guests.

This was the NSTF’s 21st flagship celebration of South African research excellence.

The outstanding research output of the winners year after year is indicative of South Africa’s advancement, economic growth and social upliftment projects.

The NSTF is a multi-stakeholder non-profit forum in South Africa, which promotes science, engineering and technology (SET) as well as innovation.

The NSTF - South32 Awards showcase the research and development capacity of our nation. These awards are the largest SET and innovation awards in South Africa and are fondly refered to as the ‘Science Oscars’.

It is an honour to be nominated for an NTSF award and to reach the finals is an exceptional milestone. We are extremely proud of Dr Helbig for this outstanding achievement. Read the Mail and Guardian article for more information on the NSTF Awards.
