GAUTENG NUMBER 1 JOINS FORCES WITH SOUTH AFRICA’S NUMBER 1

Posted on January 15, 2016

Minét Uys, the Top Achiever of Gauteng and an Alumni of Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool, envisions her future with the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (EBIT). She achieved 8 distinctions in her 2015 final exams.  She wants to qualify as a Chemical Engineer and then specialize in Biochemical Engineering.  Professor Sunil Maharaj, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology, met with Minét and her parents to congratulate them on her achievements and to welcome her to the EBIT Faculty.  Her passion to develop creative solutions in order to contribute to the well-being of her fellow men and women coincides 100% with the vision of the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Faculty.

In 2016 we are celebrating our 60th Anniversary for Engineering at TUKS and we are proud to say that we still manage to attract the top achievers to partner with us.  UP’s Engineering, in terms of the international ranking from Thomson Reuters International Science Index- Essential Science Indicators, is ranked in the top 1% of engineering schools in the world and is the highest ranked in South Africa.   We salute our founders, our Alumni, our current student corps, our staff and our business partners who make this achievement possible.

The Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology produces researchers and graduates that bring about a constructive difference to the world.  We are proud to join forces with Minét who carries this vision and who embodies the hope of the future South Africa.
