Professor Margaret Chitiga-Mabugu, Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) hosted a celebratory function on 6 June 2023 to celebrate staff members who graduated from various institutions during the second quarter of the year.
These included academic and professional staff members who obtained qualifications during the University of Pretoria’s autumn graduation season where EMS conferred 2 390 degrees. The celebrated staff members were from various EMS departments and entities.
In the Department of Human Resource Management, Dr Blessing Chabaya received his doctorate in Employment Relations from the University of Johannesburg. The Department of Accounting added to their number of academics with PhDs with Dr Maryke Henning and Dr Cecile Janse van Rensburg, who both obtained their PhD’s in Accounting Sciences, while Dr Ann van der Westhuizen of the Department of Financial Management received her PhD in Financial Management Sciences. Two lecturers of the Department of Business Management also graduated with PhDs in various fields. Dr Fani Jojozi obtained a PhD in Supply Chain Management from the University of KwaZulu Natal, and Dr Sean Kruger the Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology: Information Systems from UP. Among the group of PhD graduates who were celebrated was Dr Alta Erasmus of EMS’s Student Administration, who qualified with a PhD in Humanities degree.

Ziyanda Mashalaba of the Faculty’s Human Resources Office graduated with an MCom in Human Resource Management degree, while Silindile Mary-Jane Ndlovu, also from the same office, received a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the University of South Africa.
In addition to the postgraduate diploma graduates, Lerato Krappie of the EMS Student Administration completed hers in communication management and Le-André Sheldon of the Department of Marketing Management obtained one in entrepreneurship, which was conferred with distinction.
Prof Chitiga-Mabugu extended her heartfelt congratulations to all the staff members for their achievements.
“We are immensely proud of your achievements, which are inspiring to many. It is not easy and that is why we need to celebrate your achievements,” she said.
