The African Economic Forum (AEF) has nominated Prof Rangan Gupta from the Department of Economics to become a member of its Board of Economists for a two-year term.

“AEF considers you as one of the well-rated economists on the continent and appreciates your experience in providing solutions to economic problems and formulating policies to drive economic growth and development in the African region and look forward to you joining the team of eminent economists who constitute the board,” said Dr Hope Uweja, AEF Senior Vice President, when welcoming Prof Gupta to the board.

Among some of Prof Gupta’s recent achievements was being selected as a recipient of the 2019 UP Exceptional Academic Achiever Award for his excellent research outputs, which include nearly 500 publications in nationally and internationally accredited journals. Expressing his appreciation for the nomination, he said: “I feel honoured to be nominated on the board.”

The AEF is an international non-profit and non-partisan organisation, which is committed to working for the economic growth and prosperity of Africa through enhanced public-private partnership and collaboration.

“The Board of Economists seeks to create knowledge on policy and institutional reforms in Africa. It will provide technical advice to governments, industries and leading institutions in Africa on issues relating to economic growth and development,” explained Dr Uweja.
