Staff and students in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) welcomed thousands of prospective students who visited the University of Pretoria’s Hatfield Campus to attend #ChooseUP Day on 17 August 2019.

A full schedule awaited the enthusiastic Grade 12 learners, who had travelled from various parts of the country to attend the event. There were various sessions where they could learn more about their intended study programme, as well as “experience a lecture” sessions, which were a hit among students and their parents.

Dean Prof Elsabé Loots also presented two Dean’s Information Sessions, during which she highlighted some for the key reasons the prospective students should select the Faculty of EMS for their studies. One of these is the fact that the Faculty was ranked in the 201-250 band for Accounting and Finance, and in the 301-350 band for Economics and Econometrics in the 2019 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

In a first for the Faculty, 17 bursaries worth R10 000 each were awarded via a lucky draw conducted at the end of each programme information session. These bursaries were in addition to the four bursaries that the University of Pretoria awarded during the two Dean’s Information Sessions.
