Vision

The Department of Consumer and Food Sciences at the University of Pretoria will be the leading research‐intensive Consumer and Food Science department in Africa. It is recognized globally for the quality of its teaching and research to positively impact on the well-being of the people of Africa.

Mission

To provide teaching and learning opportunities to develop future leaders in Food Science, Nutrition, Hospitality, Food Retail Management and Clothing Retail Management.

To conduct relevant research that is internationally recognized and impacts positively on the well-being of the African community.

Core Values

In the Department of Consumer and Food Sciences, we respect the diversity of individuals irrespective of their demographic and/or historical background.
