'Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be.'

Stephen R Covey

The Enterprise Development (ED) initiatives run by Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP) have seen successful outcomes. They have empowered and capacitated small business beneficiaries to achieve substantial growth within their operations.

Babantle Housing Solutions, now known as BT Conglomerate, was one of Enterprises UP's ED beneficiaries for 2014. BT Conglomerate was still in the early stages of its establishment and their main operations were home and business gardening services, working with only a small staff complement. The company received a sponsorship of tools and equipment for their operations and its owner and director, Bethuel Nevondo, attended a course on Project Management Principles and Practices in Organisations, providing him with critical tools and techniques to manage projects in the work environment.

BT Conglomerate was selected as a beneficiary from the Tshepo 10 000 initiative, which was run in conjunction with the City of Tshwane, aimed at assisting companies in managing their daily business operations, from business case development to project completion.

Mr Nevondo recently visited Enterprises UP to give an update on the significant progress his company has made since 2014. 'The training that I received from Enterprises UP is helping me more than ever now that I find myself running several projects at a time. I have even worked hard enough to be able to afford a bakkie, which helps with running the business,' he says.

The company has expanded its operations and now provides services such as technical solutions, product supplies and environmental solutions. Mr Nevondo attributes much of his success to Enterprises UP and Tshepo 10 000, both of which have continued to provide support to his business.
