Theology celebrates its significant publications output

Posted on November 12, 2015

The Faculty of Theology held its Second Annual Publications Celebration in October 2015. The event celebrated all the academics in the Faculty who published in the previous year.

Although Theology is currently the smallest faculty at the University of Pretoria (UP), it yields more than 12% of UP’s research output. The Faculty continues to experience an increase in the number of books it publishes each year, while article output has also increased significantly over the past five years.

A brochure of the new Interfaith Commons  – which will be one of the major focuses of the Faculty’s centenary in 2017 – was also presented at the publications celebration. The Interfaith Commons will be an invaluable resource on the road to achieving the Faculty’s vision of being recognised for its creative engagement with life-giving theology and religious insight that are of service to academia, church and the community.

The Commons will modernise and reposition the Faculty for future generations, allowing a diverse student body to collaborate in fresh, inclusive ways and sustain an environment of trust, robust enquiry and mutual understanding.
