Veterinary Management of African Wildlife Conference

Arnold Theiler Building, Lecture Hall 1-35, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Onderstepoort
22/02/2017 - 25/02/2017
Presented by the Faculty of Veterinary Science and the South African Veterinary Association (SAVA) Wildlife Group, this conference will be held over four days at the Arnold Theiler Building, Lecture Hall 1-35, situated on the campus of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Onderstepoort, Pretoria, South Africa.

The conference will have the following themes: Rhino and Elephant Conservation Medicine, People and Wildlife, Applied Clinical Practice, Wildlife Diseases and Nutrition.

21 February: Pre-conference workshops.

22 to 25 February: Scientific program (programme aimed at scientists, veterinarians, para-veterinarians and students).

We aim to provide an international platform for researchers and veterinarians to present their knowledge and experience and to facilitate a valuable learning and networking opportunity for veterinarians and scientists with an interest in wildlife management.

Papers, case studies and research results reviewing recent advances or relating to research into topics of interest to wildlife and zoo veterinarians and scientists are welcome. The abstracts of the oral and poster presentations will be published. Requirements for abstracts can be found at

The format for the abstracts is flexible, but should contain a clear objective, methods and results (where applicable), as well as a logical conclusion. Successful authors will be notified of this within two weeks of the deadline for submission. Prospective presenters must be willing to accept the terms and conditions for speakers. Please complete the attached document and return to [email protected] or the organizing committee.

Contact details for Scientific Programme: Dr G Simpson ([email protected]) or Dr J O'Dell ([email protected]).

Deadline for abstract submission: 15 November 2016

Deadline for submission of full manuscripts: 15 December 2016

The presenter of each accepted abstract will receive free registration at the conference for the day of his/her presentation. However, travel, subsistence and accommodation expenses will not be covered.
