John Kinghorn on “The Southern African Big Year – A 365 Day Race for 800 Species of Bird”.

Originating in the United States of America, the Birding Big Year has spread world wide over recent years. It created a craze among birders whereby January 1st, the start of a new year, sees them attempting to record as many species of birds as they can within that calendar year.

In Southern Africa, an individual needs to record over 800 species within the sub-region within a calendar year in order to successfully "complete" a Southern African Birding Big Year.

This talk is about John Kinghorn's 2014 quest for not only 800 species within the sub-region within a calendar year but the record for the youngest person to do so.
