HIV/Aids screenings

Posted on November 21, 2017

The UP Corporate Wellness Programme, presented in partnership with Bestmed Medical Scheme, is continuing its annual health screenings aimed at the early detection of health risks. Please note that only Bestmed members qualify for these free screenings.

The final Health and Wellness screening will focus on HIV/AIDS and comprises of a one-to-one consultation session, during which the importance of knowing your status will be emphasised. Voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) will be explained and treatment options, including anti-retroviral therapy for people who test positive, will also be discussed. Bestmed members who voluntarily decide to be tested, need to sign a consent form. Testing is done by means of an HIV1/2/0 tri-line rapid-test kit and the results will be available within 10 minutes. Post-test counselling will then be conducted, followed by a discussion of the test results and the necessary referrals for follow-up visits.

We would like to encourage you to make use of this service.
