Prof Ina Fourie (UP Dept of Information Science HOD) and Prof Peter Lor (UP Information Science research associate) participated in the South African Librarians' Day Celebrations event, hosted online by LIASA on 11th of July 2022. This celebration of Librarians’ day coincided with LIASA’s 25th birthday. Prof Fourie’s was invited to speak with a presentation titled: The future of librarianship / information science in South Africa from a L/IS School perspective, while Prof Lor’s presentation reflected on the milestones and significant events in the 25-year history of LIASA.

LIASA is the Library and Information Association of South Africa. The intention with this special webinar was to celebrate this milestone and create awareness of the library and information profession and the people working in this profession. Thanks to all who presented and participated at this successful event. The UP Department of Information Science wishes LIASA a fruitful future in these times of change and opportunity.
