Professor Ina Fourie participates in panel discussions at the virtual iSchool Conference

Professor Ina Fourie, Head of Department of Information Science and Chair of the School of Information Technology, participated in two panel discussions at the virtual iSchool Conference in March 2022. The two panel discussions consisted of:

  • Humanising technology in a post-COVID world: information as an asset for all Society 5.0 (Prof. Hanlie Smuts, Prof Alta van der Merwe, Prof Ina Fourie, Prof Aurona Gerber, Prof Hein Venter – all are members of the Engineering, Built Environment and IT faculty at the University of Pretoria).
  • Critical issues in research evaluation and research on research (Andrew Plume [President – International Centre; Vice President – Research Evaluation, Elsevier]; Ying Ding [School of Information, University of Texas at Austin, USA]; Ina Fourie [Department of Information Science, University of Pretoria]; Kalpana Shankar [School of Information and Communication Studies, University College Dublin, Ireland]; Lihong Zhou [School of Information Management, Wuhan University, China].

Prof. Fourie will also join the European Region of the iSchool Organisation to work on research and supervision activities for the region. The School of Information Technology (SIT) became a member of the iSchool organisation in 2022. The two African members of the iSchool operates as part of the European Region.
