Ms. Jana Klingenberg and Ms. Samantha Miller, both lecturers in the Publishing Studies sub-division within the Department of Information Science, presented two separate papers at the USAN Conference of 2022.

The USAN Conference is aimed at young scholars, including postgraduate students and young researchers. This conference was hosted by the Department of Afrikaans and Dutch at Stellenbosch University, from 19-21 January 2022.

Ms. Jana Klingenberg presented a paper titled Between culture and commerce: the influence of cultural and commercial values on the publishing strategies of two South African publishing houses.

Ms. Samantha Miller presented a paper titled Die kriteria vir die vertaling van Afrikaanse literatuur: ‘n uitgewersperspektief [Criteria for the translation of Afrikaans literature: a publisher’s perspective].
