Professor Theo Bothma, from the Department of Information Science received a NRF B rating at the beginning of 2022.

The NRF rating system is an important propeller in the NRF’s aim to build a globally competitive research structure in South Africa. It is a benchmarking tool that assesses the quality of South Africa’s researchers against the best internationally. This prestigious rating means that the researcher has a very strong international recognition of their work.

Prof Bothma’s research and impact is known internationally and recognised by international leaders to be cited and to make a difference. Prof Bothma’s research includes information organisation and retrieval, e-lexicography, web-development, e-publishing and information literacy.
