We welcome Samy Katumba to our team! As a lecturer, Samy will be teaching GIS/Geoinformatics related courses at undergraduate and honours levels. We asked Samy some questions on his move to our Department. See the answers below!

Q: How do you feel about joining us?
A: I am excited to join Colleagues and contribute positively in the teaching and learning activities of the department.

Q: What is your research background?
A: My research interests are scattered in the fields of spatial statistics, spatial econometrics, Web GIS, spatial analysis, geospatial data mining, machine learning and online geo-information retrieval. I have a keen interest in studying the spatial dimension of socio-economic phenomena such as poverty, inequality, diversity/segregation, etc., by analysing relevant geospatial data using methods from spatial statistics, spatial econometrics and machine learning.
