Undergraduate Studies

Becoming an Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineer

Studying towards an undergraduate degree is like building a home.

Our degree programmes encompass practically every aspect of the technologies that drive our modern world. We prepare our students to conceptualise, design and implement technologies in this ever-changing environment.
The Department produces world-class engineers in electrical, electronic and computer engineering. Many of our graduates are leaders in engineering and internationally respected inventors and entrepreneurs. Several of our lecturers are world-class researchers.
Our undergraduate degree programmes are designed and optimised to prepare graduates to be competent, professional engineers in high demand in the local and international market.

Electrical Engineering focuses on generating, distributing, converting, and efficiently utilising electrical energy across various grid scales—ranging from industrial to micro-grids. It integrates traditional and renewable energy sources with smart technologies to achieve optimised performance and enhanced monitoring. Electronic Engineering is a broad discipline that covers the design and application of electronic systems across various sectors, including telecommunications, manufacturing, military, transportation, and biomedical fields. It spans subfields such as microelectronics, signal processing, control systems, power electronics, and electromagnetics. Computer Engineering bridges the gap between hardware and software to create integrated solutions for real-world challenges. It encompasses diverse areas, including software development, networks, data security, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, and more—making it a multidisciplinary field at the intersection of computing and electronics.
