During part one of the Future Africa – 1Hope Webinar Series, held on the 11th of November 2020, we had a broad introduction to the Webinar Series. Prof. Cheikh Mbow, Director of Future Africa at the University of Pretoria (UP) in South Africa, explained Future Africa and Transdisciplinary Research from a UNICEF, One Health Future Africa perspective.

Further to his discussion, Dr. George Lueddeke, Chair of the International One Health for One Planet Education Initiative (1HOPE) in the United Kingdom, discussed transdisciplinarity in terms of Reimagining the University in the 21st Century. Prof. Bassirou Bonfoh (Afrique One-ASPIRE, Swiss Centre for Scientific Research (CSRS) in Côte d'Ivoire) discussed Enhancing Transdisciplinary Research Capacity in Africa.

We concluded the webinar with an interactive 1HOPE Working Groups in Africa discussion which was led by Dr. Wilfred A. Abia (Primary and Secondary Education in Cameroon), Dr. Phaedra Henley (Director of the Centre for One Health at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) in Rwanda) and Dr. Ursin Bayisenge (One Health Research Associate and Junior Faculty Lecturer at the Centre for One Health within UGHE in Rwanda) and Dr. Ayinka-Asahkee Brown (Governance of Policy and Advocacy in Jamaica).
