Scope

The FTREC obtains applications via the online application system, 'Research Grants and Ethics' on the UP Portal: 

  • All postgraduate students submit their research proposals to the Research Committee and Ethics Committee via the online submission system for review. This applies to all research Honnors, Masters and PhD programmes. When the study includes empirical research, that is, people or animals are utilised as sources of information, it is routed to the FTREC for ethical clearance. 
  • MDiv students submit research proposals via the online submission system for review when the research includes empirical research, that is, people or animals are utilised as sources of information.  
  • Staff members who direct research projects that include empirical research, that is people or animals are utilised as sources of information, submit the research project  proposal via the online submission system for review. 
  • Staff members responsible for undergraduate modules that include empirical research, must submit declarations of ethical intent to the FTREC for review and approval.
