The seminar will examine the ANC’s diminishing political power in the face of break-away fractions and disenchantment of its voter bases. Loses in the 2016 local government elections have raised the prospects of defeat in the 2019 national elections. This has embolden opposition parties to form tactful alliances, to put the ANC on the back foot on a range of matters. Recent leadership change within the ANC signals an intention to regain losses in support and integrity. The seminar discusses ANC dynamics and the idea of re-alignment of party politics.
