Application guidelines

Applications for UPOnline programmes close two weeks before each module starts. With multiple start dates throughout the year, you can start whenever it’s convenient for you. Please note: applications will not be accepted after a module has begun. Multiple start dates are available here.

1. Start Your Application Select your chosen programme web page and click ’Start Your Application’. Complete all required fields, agree to the terms by ticking the boxes, and click ’Submit’ to begin the process.
2. Call Centre Pre-vetting The UPOnline Call Centre initiates the pre-vetting process to assess whether you meet the minimum admission requirements. If eligible, you will receive an email with a secure, personalised UPOnline application link.
3. Submit Your Online Application Use the link provided to access the application portal. Complete the form, upload your supporting documents (ensure they are clear and correctly formatted), and pay the application fee. Your application will be reviewed by UPOnline and then by the relevant faculty. You will receive a ’UP application received’ letter with a student number (EMPLID) for tracking purposes. This does not indicate acceptance. You can use the details in the letter to activate your UP student profile and monitor your application status.
4. Monitor Your Application Status After receiving your confirmation letter, log into the UP Student Portal regularly to track your application progress. All official communication, including updates and letters from the university, will be available under the 'Communications' tile. If you have used the portal before, you can sign in with your existing credentials.
5. Application Outcome You will be notified of the outcome via an official letter. If successful, you will receive an admission letter. If not, you will receive a letter informing you that your application was unsuccessful.
6. Submit Your Signed Study Contract Registration is only possible once your study contract has been submitted. Complete the contract online, print, sign section 9.1, and initial each page. Scan and upload the signed contract under 'Upload Supporting Documentation' in the Student Centre. When uploading, select the correct academic year, 'UPOnline documents', and 'UP study contract'. Please read all instructions carefully before you complete the contract.
7. Register and Pay for Your Modules Once your study contract is validated, you may proceed with registration. You must register for each module at the start of its cycle until your qualification is complete. Tuition is charged per module and must be paid at registration to ensure access to learning materials. Module start dates and fee details are available on the UPOnline website.
