Subcouncil Awards: An Evening of Excellence

Posted on August 22, 2025

The Subcouncil Awards, fondly known as An Evening of Excellence, brought together the vibrant community of student leaders to celebrate the hard work, creativity, and impact of the past year. The event shone a spotlight on collaboration, innovation, and commitment — reminding us of the power of student-driven change.

The night was filled with recognition across clusters and categories, with subcouncils applauded for their dedication to partnerships, transformation, impact, and governance. Most importantly, the first-place winners stood out for their exceptional achievements:

  • Best Partnership Award: Law House and Stars Mentorship (Cluster 1) and House Tau and Erica (Cluster 2)

  • Most Improved Subcouncil Award: Stars Mentorship and Law House (Cluster 1) and Vividus and Luminous (Cluster 2)

  • Impact Award: Commercii and NatHouse (Cluster 1) and Mopane and House Mags (Cluster 2)

  • Transformation & Inclusion Award: House Ukuthula and Madelief (Cluster 2)

  • Social Butterfly Award: Law House and Stars Mentorship (Cluster 1) and Tirisano and Curelitzia (Cluster 2)

  • Fundraising Award: Commercii and NatHouse (Cluster 1) and Mopane and House Mags (Cluster 2)

  • Administration & Governance Award: Health House (Cluster 1) and The Tower and Zinnia (Cluster 2)

Each winner showcased the heart of what it means to be part of the subcouncil community — collaboration, resilience, inclusivity, and service. Their success is not only a reflection of their hard work but also of the collective spirit of RAG.

The evening closed on a warm and celebratory note, with refreshments and conversations that gave everyone the chance to connect one last time before the goodbyes.

Indeed, An Evening of Excellence reminded us that beyond the trophies and certificates, it is the relationships built, the lives touched, and the impact made that define true success.
