On July 31st, the Lead with Disability: Storytelling Event brought together a group of inspiring people to share their experiences of living with disabilities and leading in their own way.
Often, we think of leadership as something only a certain few can do. This event showed us that could not be further from the truth. The storytellers shared honest and powerful stories about the challenges they face, but also their strengths and achievements.
We learned so much about both visible and invisible disabilities, gaining a deeper understanding of the many ways disability affects people’s lives. Their stories made it clear that disability is not a weakness, but a source of strength and creativity. When we include different kinds of people in leadership, everyone benefits.
This event created a safe place for open and honest conversation. People listened closely and learned from each other’s experiences. It was not just about raising awareness, but about changing how we think about disability and leadership.
A special thank you to VITA for helping make this event happen. Their support was important in giving these stories a platform and helping the event succeed.
The Lead with Disability event was a big step toward creating a world where everyone’s voice matters. The stories shared will help us all remember that leadership is about including and empowering everyone — no matter their (dis)abilities.
