Happy Pride Month!

Posted on June 01, 2025

June marks the start of Pride Month, a powerful celebration of love, identity, courage, and the ongoing fight for equality for the LGBTQIA+ community. As UP RAG, we stand firmly for dignity, visibility, and justice for all — and we’re proud to be allies in the movement toward a more inclusive and compassionate society.

Pride is more than a celebration, it is a reminder of the resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community and a call to action for everyone to continue the work of creating safe, affirming spaces. As a student organisation rooted in service and engagement, UP RAG embraces diversity in all its forms. We believe that every person (regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or background) deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

This month, we reflect on the progress made and recognise the challenges that still remain. We commit ourselves to listening, learning, unlearning, and actively uplifting LGBTQIA+ voices within our campus and the communities we serve.

A Message from the Transformation Officer:

“This month, we proudly celebrate the resilience, diversity, and brilliance of the LGBTQIA+ community. At UP RAG, we reaffirm our ongoing commitment to transformation, equity, and the creation of safe, inclusive spaces for all students, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

We believe that true transformation means challenging prejudice, amplifying queer voices, and ensuring that every student feels seen, heard, and valued. Pride is not just a celebration, it is a call to action. Let us stand together in love, solidarity, and purpose, now and always.”
Eulogy Khoza, Transformation Officer

As we participate in Pride-themed events, share stories, and engage in meaningful conversations, let’s remember: love is not a debate and inclusion is not optional.

To our LGBTQIA+ peers and allies: we see you, we support you and we celebrate you - this month and always.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at UP RAG.
