01 September 1978: UP’s female table tennis champion. On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper, Die Perdeby (featured below), featured Tukkies’ BCom table tennis star, Miss Betsie Botha.

28 August 1981: Engineering peddle car team wins. On this “Day in the life at the University of Pretoria”, the student newspaper, Die Perdeby, reported that UP’s team, team UFO, won all the intervarsity races, including the final race in Durban.

17 August 1973: UP’s female first hockey team beat Old Girls team 2-0. This "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" ended in a spectacular win.

13 August 1948: Rhodes sports venue set the scene for mixed double clashes between Tukkies and Wits tennis teams. This "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" ended in a spectacular draw between the two sides.

Soccer was one of the first sports to be practiced at the TUC (Transvaal University College), the forerunner of UP. When the rugby club was established in 1909, the soccer club already existed.
