01 September 1978: : UP’s female table tennis champion. On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper, Die Perdeby (featured below), featured Tukkies’ BCom table tennis star, Miss Betsie Botha.

Miss Botha was ranked second in SA in 1978 and was chosen to be part of the Northern Transvaal team. She and Paula Kloppers had also won the (South African Union) SAU table tennis title for the university at a recent match.
