28 August 1981:  Engineering peddle car team wins. On this “Day in the life at the University of Pretoria”, the student newspaper, Die Perdeby, reported that UP’s team, team UFO, won all the intervarsity races, including the final race in Durban.

The newspaper (featured above) reports that after a gruelling six-hour race, on a wet track, the UP team won. Teams from the residences Boekenhout, Kollege, Erika, Olienhout and Klaradyn also competed. Erika finished second in the female peddle car team race.
