Health Measurement Sciences (HMS)

About HMS

The Health Measurement Sciences (HMS) Division of the UP’s School of Health Systems and Public Health (SHSPH) offers analytical support to all the postgraduate programmes within the school, from Diploma, Honours Degrees, Masters, PhD and Post-Doctoral programmes. Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Disease Control, Field Epidemiology, and Monitoring and Evaluation, are the main components of the HMS Division. Epidemiology and Biostatistics is regarded universally as two core components of modern public health programmes.

The Division also provides bio-statistical support to the Faculty of Health Sciences postgraduate students both within and outside the SHSPH. We use Stata and EpiData statistical software packages routinely; but we also support the use of R, SAS and SPSS in special cases.
