Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (EOHS)

About EOHS

The Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) Division commenced in 2014.  According to the World Health Organization, environmental factors account for approximately one third of the global burden of disease, with children under five carrying the brunt.

The objectives of the EOH Division are to develop capacity in South African and SADC countries to address environmental and occupational health risks with the aim to reduce the burden of disease associated with climatic changes and occupational exposures. We do this through post graduate programmes by supervising PhD, M and BSc Hons students using course work, focused practicals, excursions and teaching seminars.

The EOH Division has a well equipped Air Quality laboratory where applied research in the fields of environmental and occupational hygiene is completed.  The EOH Division is also actively involved with contract research and presenting of short courses through Enterprises UP.
