Dr. Heila Pienaar and Dr. Martha van Deventer, who are both research associates in the Department of Information Science, were part of the editorial team for a Frontier collection garnering over 41,000 views, 2,430 downloads and consisting of 9 published papers. Frontiers mainly publishes e-books that consist of 10 or more manuscripts however made an exception due to the research topic of this collection. The research topic of the collection focuses on Open Science in Africa and the Open Science movement, particularly in Africa. It consists of authors not only from South Africa but also Kenya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and international (United Kingdom, China, United States, Netherlands, to mention a few).
