Special Guest Lecture: Prof Naresh

On the 22 August 2022, Professor Naresh Kumar Agarwal, an Associated Professor and Director of the Information Science and Technology Concentration at the School of Library and Information at Simmons University as well as the current President of the Association for Information Science and Technology presented a lecture to the Information Science INY 414/714 Honours students.

Professor Naresh presented on the Information Behaviour Models and Context covering: information practices; research areas; theories, models and frameworks and unifying information behaviour models. Prof Naresh also introduced his books titled: "You know the glory, not the story: 25 Journeys towards Ikigai" and "Engineering to Ikigai: 25 Journeys towards Purpose".

Professor Naresh's teaching area includes: technology and web development, theories of information science, knowledge management, and evaluation of information services. His research focuses on "information behavior and knowledge management — the way people look for information and the contextual factors that impact their choice of information sources. He seeks to reconcile multiple perspectives — the user (context, seeking, sense-making, serendipity, avoiding) versus systems/technology, theoretical and empirical studies, and a variety of contexts".
