Visiting Fullbright Scholar, Prof Daniel Alemneh

We are very priviledged to welcome Professor Daniel (Danny) Alemneh at the Department of Information Science at the University of Pretoria as a visiting Fullbright Scholar. He arrived today, the 8th November 2021, and will be visiting us until August 2022.

Professor Alemneh’s academic qualifications include a BA from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, a MLS from the University of Sheffield, UK and a PhD from University of North Texas, USA.

He has an extensive research interest in digital curation, information organisation, knowledge management, open access and scholarly communication.

Professional positions Professor Alemneh has held are the following:

  • Full Librarian, University of North Texas. (2014 – Present).
  • Adjunct Professor, University of North Texas. (2005 – Present).
  • Associate Librarian, University of North Texas. (2009 – 2014).
  • Librarian II / Assistant Professor, University of North Texas. (2005 – 2009).
  • Super Graduate Library Assistant, University of North Texas. (2003 – 2004).
  • Graduate Library Assistant, University of North Texas. (2000 – 2003).
  • Assistant Professor/Librarian, Head, Addis Ababa University. (September 1, 1994 – August 31, 1999).

He has an extensive research interest in digital curation, information organisation, knowledge management, open access and scholarly communication and has presented and published widely.

We are looking forward to host Prof Alemneh as a visiting Fullbright Scholar at our department and to benefit from his wealth of knowledge and expertise.
