The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering celebrated its Project and Prize Evening on Thursday, 07 November 2024. This prestigious event showcased some of the best final-year projects of 2024.

Mrs Anthea Venter, the Mistress of Ceremonies (MC) for the evening, extended a warm and enjoyable welcome to all the guests and participants. She also informed the guests of some of the expected changes in 2025, such as the restructuring of our department’s undergraduate supply chain modules.

The first round of selections consisted of twelve participants. From these twelve participants, the final six students were selected to present their projects. The presenter finalists were Christian Viljoen, Hanneke Strümpher, Keegan Menzies, Doné Joubert, Juani Snyman and Shelby Guerin.

This year, we also recognised our top achievers for their outstanding academic performance in 2023, awarding students from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year groups.

• 1^st year (2023): Johannes Voges (1^st) and Mia Louw (2^nd)
• 2^nd year (2023): Landi Meyer (1^st), Leandré van Dijk (2^nd) and Jurie-Kemp van der Watt (3^rd)
• 3^rd year (2023): Anina Loots (1^st), Jessica Hunt (2^nd) and Cara Sarkady (3^rd)

For our final year awards, we had thee categories:

• Category 1: Best Project Poster
• Category 2: Best Project Document
• Category 3: Best Project Presentation

 The top three students in Category 1, Best Project Poster were:

• 1st place:  Christian Viljoen
• 2nd place: Keenu Dunbar
• 3rd place:  Maritz Stapelberg

• 1st place:  Hanneke Strümpher
• 2nd place: Louis Fivaz
• 3rd place: Anina Loots

In Category 3, Best Project Presentation, the top three students were selected by a panel of adjudicators and the winners were:

• 1st place:  Shelby Guerin
• 2nd place: Doné Joubert
• 3rd place: Christian Viljoen
