On 09 April 2024, the Department of Human Resource Management (HRM) at the University of Pretoria, together with its student association, HR Tuks hosted a networking event for students pursuing careers in human resource management, labour relations, and industrial psychology.

The event served as an invaluable platform for students to explore diverse career avenues, as well as opportunities for further studies, internships and memberships at professional societies or boards such as the Society of Industrial and Organisational Psychology of South Africa (SIOPSA) and SA Board for People Practices (SABPP).

The event was also attended by HRM alumni and industry professionals who emphasised the importance of networking and fostering relationships crucial for career advancement.

Speaking on the event, Professor Alewyn Nel, Head of Department of HRM said building industry relationships is pivotal for the department to best assist students in navigating their professional journeys.

“As we continue to forge partnerships and facilitate networking opportunities, we hope to contribute to the success of the next generation of future HRM leaders”, said Prof Nel.
