The Department of Human Resource Management in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences earned the University of Pretoria the award for the Best University in Human Resource (HR) Standards at the South African Board for People Practices’ (SABPP’s) gala event, hosted at the Birchwood Hotel in Johannesburg on 21 August 2019.
According to the Head of Department, Prof Alewyn Nel, this award is significant. “It shows that UP provides education that not only correspond to the HR standards as prescribed by the SABPP, but also delivers highly exceptional work-integrated learning to emerging HR professionals.” The award was accepted by Prof Karel Stanz on behalf of the Department.
Additionally, doctoral candidate in Business Management, Sakkie van Greunen, was recognised for his dissertation, based on the quality of research demonstrated and its value to the field of HR in South Africa. His dissertation, titled ‘Towards the development of a substantive professional-in-training model for the Human Resource profession’, was completed cum laude under the supervision of Prof Stanz.
