SABPP visits Human Resource Management

Posted on May 21, 2018

The South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) management team, under leadership of CEO Mr Marius Meyer, visited the Department of Human Resource Management in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences during April 2018. The SABPP is recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) as a professional body which provides accreditation towards human resource qualifications. The qualifications at the Department of Human Resource Management were recently re-accredited for the next five years.

The reason for the visit was to discuss curriculum refinement, possible communal community projects and to debate the work readiness of students. Apart from meeting with staff in the Department, Mr Meyer and his team also met with HR Tuks, the student society of BCom Human Resource Management students, to discuss possible collaborative activities, since HR Tuks is seen as a student chapter for the SABPP at the University of Pretoria. After this meeting, the SABPP team visited the third-year students under the guidance of their lecturer, Mr Sakkie van Greunen. The SABPP presented their role in the quality control of the HR profession in South Africa and expectations of industry pertaining to entrée HR young professionals.
