Cape Town City-Region Talent Summit

The Human Capital Institute Africa played host to some of the most influential leaders in the world during the Cape City-Region Talent summit.  According to the Human Capital Institute, the goal of the summit was to "was to create a virtual community of project members from the delegates to initiate lead projects in the Talent space. These projects have the potential to have a marked impact on the South African Talent Management scene and hopefully impact the economy of the Cape City- Region over time."

The summit was opened by Ms Helen Zille, Executive Mayor of the city of Cape Town. Key issues covered by her address included the tranformation of the Cape City-Region's economy and attracting direct foreign investment and top talent for sustainable growth.    Ms Zille also emphasised the impact of globalisation on the economy and the mobility of skills and capital in a globalised environment.

Mr Allan Schweyer, Executive Director & Vice President Research of the Human Capital Institue Global. also presented a keynote speech on the global workforce in terms of acquiring, engaging and retaining talent to achieve growth.

South African keynote presenters wer Dr Anton Schlecther from the University of Cape Town and Mr Clem Sunter, Chairman of the Anglo American Chairman's.  Dr Schlechter discussed the Talent Markets Index (TM) providing insight from the Cape Town talent pool and Mr Sunter gave a futuristic perspective on talent management in the Cape City-Region.
